Canosa was an ancient Greek south Italian colony that produced magnificent unglazed wares in the 4th -3rd Century BC. Canosan pottery was more subtly decorated than contemporary Apulian wares, with Canosan artists making use of pastel coloured pigments and smooth, elegant ceramic forms.
